Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

MOTY CONSULTANCE S.R.L. operates MotyApp.ro (https://motyapp.ro) and decides how personal data is used. Write to contact@moty.ro. We answer within 30 days.

2. What we process

We process only what the app needs in order to work.

• Birth details you enter: date, time and place of birth, gender, and a name if you choose to give one. They are used to calculate the charts.
• What you save: charts, folders, session notes, saved dates, Oracle and I Ching readings, Feng Shui homes, and the photos or floor plans you add.
• Account details, if you sign in with Google: your email address, your name, the address of your profile picture and your Google account identifier. We never receive your Google password.
• Technical data: your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. Our hosting provider records these in server logs to keep the service secure and running.

3. Where your data is kept

Without an account, what you save is stored only in your own browser, on your device. We keep no copy, so we cannot restore it if you clear your browser.

MotyApp Lite needs no account and keeps a single chart: its birth details stay in the encrypted cookie described below, on your device. Lite saves nothing to our database.

Calculations are made on our server. When a page, a list of saved charts or a list of days needs one, the birth details involved are sent to our server, used for the calculation and not kept.

When you search for the place of birth or the city for Today, the text you type for the place is sent to our server inside the request, not in its address, only to find the city and its time zone. We do not keep it. Like any request, it may appear for a limited time in our hosting provider's technical logs. The date and time of birth are not kept.

With an account, your birth details, My Space (saved charts, folders, session notes, saved dates and the list of exported PDFs) and the other sections of the app (QMDJ and Ze Ri journals, Oracle, I Ching, Feng Shui homes with their plans and photos, and the photos in Compatibilities) are also saved to our database, so that you find them on any device. Theme and display preferences stay on each device.

The birth details of the chart you are viewing are kept in an encrypted cookie on your device, not in the addresses of the pages you visit, so they do not appear in your browser history. A form you submit with another person's details sends them inside the request, never in the page address. An older link that still carries birth details in its address passes through our server once and is cleaned before the page opens, so that address can appear once in our hosting provider's server logs. When you sign out, the app removes from this browser the charts, notes and chart details it was keeping for your account; they stay in your account. A link you share from My Space carries only a code: it opens a copy of the chart's calculation details, with the name only if you choose to include it. It expires after 30 days, and you can stop it earlier from Shared links in My Space.

4. Why we process it and on what legal basis

We process birth details, saved content and account details to provide the service you ask for (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR).

We process technical data to keep the service secure and to prevent abuse, which is our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).

We do not use analytics, we show no advertising, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.

5. Details of other people

You can enter the birth details of other people, such as clients or family members. When you do, you are responsible for having their agreement or another lawful reason to do so. Enter a name only if you need it; the calculations do not use it.

6. Who else handles the data

We use a small number of providers. Supabase, Vercel and Anthropic process data on our behalf, under their data processing terms. Google, Esri and OpenStreetMap receive data directly from your browser, only when you use the feature concerned, and handle it under their own privacy policies.

• Supabase, Inc. — database and sign-in. Your account data is stored in the European Union (Ireland).
• Vercel Inc. — hosting. Requests may be handled on servers outside the European Economic Area, under the safeguards required by EU law, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
• Google Ireland Limited — sign-in, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
• Esri and OpenStreetMap — map images in the Feng Shui home view. When you open the map, your browser requests images of the area shown directly from them, so they receive your IP address, the area you are viewing and the address of our website (not the page you are on).
• Anthropic, PBC — the BaZi Agent. When you ask the agent a question, your question, the earlier messages of that conversation and the computed data of your chart (pillars, elements, readings — without your name or place of birth) are sent to Anthropic so the model can write the answer. We keep no copy of the conversation. Under Anthropic's commercial terms the data is not used to train its models and is kept only for a limited time.
• Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) — error reports, stored in the European Union. When a page fails, our server sends the error message, the page address without its parameters and the type of browser. Your IP address, your cookies and your account are not sent. Reports are kept for up to 90 days.

7. Cookies and browser storage

We use cookies only where the app needs them. They are strictly necessary for these features to work, or they keep a choice you made (the language). There are no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.

• motyapp-chart: holds the birth details of the chart you are viewing (encrypted; for 30 days, renewed when you visit MotyApp Lite).
• motyapp-chart-r: remembers that motyapp-chart was renewed, so it is renewed at most every 15 days (no personal data; for 15 days).
• motyapp-chart-prev: keeps your own chart while you look at a chart someone shared with you, so you can return to it (encrypted; for 7 days).
• motyapp-explore-chart: the same as motyapp-chart, for the chart open in MotyApp Explore (encrypted; for 30 days).
• motyapp-lang: the language of the interface you chose (for 1 year).
• motyapp-lite-city: the city you chose for Today in MotyApp Lite, with its time zone; no birth details (for 1 year).
• motyapp-explore-preferences: theme, display and language in MotyApp Explore (for 1 year).
• moty-mode: whether you last used MotyApp Lite or MotyApp Pro (for 1 year).
• moty-pro: shows that the MotyApp Pro access password was entered; it holds nothing about you (for 30 days).
• Sign-in cookies (names beginning with sb-), only if you sign in: a short-lived one while you sign in with Google and one that keeps you signed in, until you sign out or for up to 400 days.
• Your browser's local storage and IndexedDB keep what you save (charts, notes, saved dates, readings, Feng Shui homes, photos and floor plans) and your preferences (theme, display, language). Their names begin with tongshu-, zeri-, motyapp-, motyapp.explore.v1 or ms-. Session storage keeps short-lived drafts and is emptied when you close the tab.

8. How long we keep it

Data in your browser stays until you erase it. Data in your account stays until you delete the account; it is then removed from our active database at once. Copies kept in our database provider's backups are deleted when those backups expire, under the provider's own retention rules.

Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period, under its own retention rules.

9. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You can use most of them yourself, inside the app:

• See and correct your birth details: the account menu, “Edit birth details”.
• Take your data with you: My Space, “Download a backup of all spaces” downloads your charts, notes, saved dates and readings as a file. Photos and floor plans are not included.
• Erase what is in your browser: My Space, “Erase everything in this browser”.
• Delete your account and everything saved in it: My Space, “Delete my account”.
• For anything else: Write to contact@moty.ro. We answer within 30 days.
• You can also complain to the Romanian data protection authority, ANSPDCP (www.dataprotection.ro), or to the authority of the country where you live.

10. Children

MotyApp.ro, including MotyApp Lite, is not intended for children under 16. Do not use the app or create an account if you are under 16.

11. Automated decisions

The charts and readings are calculated automatically from the details you enter. They are information for your own reflection. We make no decision about you on the basis of them.

12. Changes to this policy

When the app changes what it does with personal data, we update this page and the date at the top.
